The Participation Machine captures construction's physical and spatial qualities through interactive sound. Hidden mechanical systems inside the sculpture activate as a person approaches, producing metallic impact sounds that accelerate as they draw closer. The work elicits the aftermath of urban development by recreating sensations of tension, instability, and unease.
