Inspired by the organism Epimeriidae I created a shoulder armor relating to the sense of touch. The sculpture’s pointy edges evoke a sense of danger to its observers. Similar to the Epimeriidae, the piny crest along their mid-back and spines on their sides serve as a protection or serve as a “disruptive shape” that camouflages itself. The sculpture serves as a dichotomy between protection and harm. It reflects my tendency to exhibit hostile body language in an unfamiliar environment. The rigid structure exhibits the body as intrusive (represented by daylight photos) but the oxymoronic meaning (represented by night photos) is focused on vulnerability and protection.
